Happy Memorial Day!

I called yesterday bonus Saturday, as it didn't really count as a Sunday, since I had today off and all. I think I might have overdone it this weekend, although I do not complain.
After getting out early on Friday I met up with
teany and we hit Nolita to commit some retail. Although she eventually had some minor success in Anthropologie, the day came up as a big goose egg, ad consumers continue to suffer under the terrible tyranny of horrible colors and even worse styling this summer. (PROTIP: 80s are dead and should remain so.) But we eventually met up with
antheia for drinks, which was fun.
Saturday I hightailed it out to the wilds of New Jersey to see if I had better luck with
katiebea in my quest to find shoes to go with the dress. Saturday was a lucky day across the board - by some mystical magic, the Q train took only HALF AN HOUR to get from Cortelyou Road (after a run to the library) to 34th street. I made the 12:14 train out of a transit miracle. We then headed to Stuff Yer Face for lunch (omg) and then off to many, many houses of discount for spoils. I found two great pairs of shoes at M2M, a shoe place of the DSW bend, including a pair that goes with my dress. Phew. Then I got some assorted odds and ends at Marshalls, before heading back to the city for dinner with more friends.
Would have been a lovely evening, except for the part where J and I came home and some miscreants in an adjacent building were having a party. We only knew of said party because their music was so very loud, we could hear it (and feel the bass!!!) in our apartment, easily 100+ feet away. WHY IS THIS NECESSARY? Is the party not hoppin unless you make ears bleed within a 100-mile radius? According to our good friends at the NYPD, they'd gotten SEVERAL calls about that party. Ugh.
During said dinner, I heard that
trebleahead had an extra ticket for yesterday's Yankee game. A few texts, and it was mine. So yesterday I headed out to the stadium, despite it being hijacked by a bunch of truly obnoxious Phillies fans. Tough loss, too. And a long game. Very, very long game. Still, it was a good time. Then J and I had dinner wtih some of his friends, and headed home, and were able to sleep in delightful quiet.
At the game yesterday, I was invited to two barbecues within 5 minutes of one another. I may try to do both, but we'll see. Yesterday I was full of vim and vigor - I hit the ground running and had my laundry completely done before 10 am. Saturday I went tornado and straightened up the apartment before leaving for the day. Today I kind of want to stare at the tv/computer before I head out, even though I really should go grocery shopping. We're out of basically everything. (Bachelor fridge won'tcha come out tonight, come out tonight...) Come on incentive - I know you're in there somewhere....
Anyway, a good Memorial Day to all. According to the instructions/suggestion I received at yesterday's game, I'll observe a moment of reflection at 3pm of all the lives lost to war. And try to not burn myself too close to out before heading back to work tomorrow, for the downside of summer hours: 8:45-5:30, Monday through Thursday. Oh, and I'm covering until 5 this Friday. AWESOME. At least that'll be overwith soon.
