No good deed...

As I said on Twitter this morning, I am consistently amazed by my ability to fall UP the stairs. Yeah, you read that right. Up. Not down.
When
quasisonic called to tell me more about her good news, she asked if I could please take care of Puck's garden while he was away. No problem. So, as I headed up to the roof to water his plants, I tripped over one of the stairs, and landed on my knees. Now, since I was walking in my usual rapid fashion, I slipped hard, and fell hard. My ankles bashed against the hard, marble stair with considerable force, as well. I think that my right ankle and left elbow and forearm had the worst of the impact, but I have some twisted muscles in my back, some scraped hands and some very sore knees to show for it as well. *sigh* I feel like I've been in a fight - not sure who won.
Speaking of fighting, J lent me the first season of Burn Notice. I'm about four episodes in and absolutely in love. Any Burn Notice fans out there? And I'm sure J will violently disagree with it, but in Burn Notice I see all the elements that I adored and miss from the Dresden Files TV show (a hot, snarky protagonist, quirky storylines, fun side characters). I'm currently blowing through Season 1 and hope to be caught up soon - thanks to a combined effort of iTunes and HULU.com. :)
Also, will someone please inform the weather, that it's currently the end of August, and not the end of September? I'm all for weather like this, but NOT when there's still TWO weekends left at the beach club. Just two. And the last thing that I want is two weeks of 90+ degree weather in late September, after the club closes, when such warm weather is basically useless to me, and therefore annoying.
Where did this summer go? It feels like this entire year is flying by!

Date: 2008-08-20 03:38 pm (UTC)Skiboy got me started on Burn Notice at the beginning of this season. I haven't seen any of the first season, but it was pretty easy to jump into S2 and get hooked. Bruce Campbell! *squee*

Date: 2008-08-20 03:58 pm (UTC)It's really easy to get hooked on. Bruce Campbell is great, and so is Gabrielle Anwar. I'm sure it's easy to jump into the second season, I'm just a purist who believes in starting from the beginning (hence my reluctance to take on Battlestar Gallactica at this point).

Date: 2008-08-20 05:06 pm (UTC)I love Burn Notice like crazy. I started watching because of Bruce Campbell, and then was pleased to discover that the Bruce is not the best thing about the series—not that he’s not awesome, it’s just that everything else is, too.
Recently, N got hooked too, and now he reminds me that it’s Burn Notice night even more often than I remind him.
It’s really the funnest show I’ve seen in a while.

It's just so clever, and fresh, and sharp. I love it.

Date: 2008-08-20 06:12 pm (UTC)So funny how many shows I like now that are original to cable channels... In Plain Sight, Eureka, Psych...

Date: 2008-08-21 03:24 am (UTC)And some of the other new ones I like (like Swingtown) like to pretend they're a cable show.

Date: 2008-08-21 03:30 am (UTC)Did you see what

Date: 2008-08-22 01:03 am (UTC)Faves:
* Burn Notice
* In Plain Sight
* Criminal Minds
* CSI (yeah, pretty much all of them)
* Psych
* Monk
* Cold Case
* The Sarah Connor Chronicles
* Heroes
* How I Met Your Mother
* Eureka
* The Big Bang Theory
* Two and a Half Men
* The Rules of Engagement
* Gossip Girl
* Bones
* House
* The Closer
And those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head that are still on the air and that I'm very attached to (there are others I'll watch and enjoy, like anything Law & Order or Dr. Who).
It occurs to me that I am in dire need of Tivo or else no television whatsoever and then I can just purchase/rent my favorite shows on DVD and watch them from beginning to end.
Burn the dresden files?
Date: 2008-08-22 04:41 am (UTC)Yes... I should be asleep.
Anywhoo, I'm thrilled to see the Burn Notice fans chucking in. Having been turned off by the Dresden Show ( hey, they gave money to Claudia Black, so it wasn't all bad), I couldn't honestly compare contrast.
Having read the first Dresden book I catch your drift. Both also have the lead character sharing entertaining lectures about what they do ( making cell phone bugs, bombs, enchanted bracelets, or tricking evildoers into revealing their true name) without giving away the crucial tips that would let the audience get themselves into trouble- either with the police or the local senior council of mages.
Come to think of it, Fiona and Toot-Toot would get along very well.
I claim no responsibility for the fan fics following that particular thread.
