well, one of the graduation day snubbers seems to be coming around. Wondering if I should trust the overture or not.

also, turns out cost of turntable was minus the $20 deposit. So it was only $34, not $54. Woo + hoo!!

Will be spending more money tomorrow, on hair and waxing. *sigh* oh, the necessities of a female existance.

i'm not going to say anything nasty about the perpetuation of gender roles and female stereotyping and patriarchal requirements of beauty standards... but know that i am thinking it.

*shoots self* I can't win. I'm not following anyone's standards except my very own. I like to look a certain way. That's my CHOICE. As for the waxing, I had to endure a very painful incident due to UNWAXED hair in a certain region, that I do not wish to discuss in a public forum. So I am waxing it. I like the way it looks. I also like the way I look in pants. It used to be that the choice of one's outer appearance was left to that person alone, and not part of a political statement. Geez. I'm not telling anyone else how to look/dress/act, and that's all I really want in return. Don't want to shave/wax/wear makeup? FINE. Just let me do so without screaming that I've been brainwashed.

*note to self - do not attempt humor in future. ever.*

who cares if you wax? however you want to alter your appearance, you should -- if it makes you feel good to do it, then do it.

the problem is this:

oh, the necessities of a female existance.

First of all:
When the hell did it become practice for people to attack a friend for a slight facetious comment? Maybe it wasn't perfectly crystal clear to all of you that she was kidding around, but that's the way she is and i would've assumed you all knew that.

None of us think that because we are women we have to maintain certain requirements of appearance, but because of personal preference and in growing up female, there are things that some of us do that we might not have grown up doing had we been born male.

Granted, its easy to misunderstand comments made online, tone and expression are lost in the typed word, but i would think people would understand that you can't take everything so seriously. its not like it was a speech outlining the downfall of the feminine look.

Finally: i am also curious why someone felt the need to be anonymous, if you're going to say something, at least take credit for it.

*clears throat* sorry if i sound aggressive or mad, i'm not. I'm merely doing what no one else did. stick up for my sister.
