Reading the September issue of Elle led me to some important discoveries, and much squeeing.

1. Banana Yoshimoto has a new book coming out, called Goodbye Tsugumi (Grove Press). It sounds like your typical Banana story, but that's what I love about her. She usually presents variations on similar themes, and this one seems closer to Kitchen or even NP (my favorite) than some of her more recent books.

2. Jeffrey Eugenides ALSO has a new book coming out (Farrar Straus & Giroux). It's called Middlesex, and tells the sweeping story of a hermaphrodite, from ancestors to present self-realization. I'm just so excited that he's written something new, since I loved Virgin Suicides so much. I'm not completely sure about the topic, but it got a good review here and if reading Francesca Lia Block has taught me anything, it's to not judge a book by its blurb.

3. And this is exclusively for [livejournal.com profile] antheia. Agent Provacateur is opening a store in Soho. AND they're releasing a line of shoes, which will be sold there along with the prohibitively expensive (not to mention sexy and goregous) lingere.

I don't *need* encouragement. I'm a one woman shoe army.

Okay, maybe that's going a little far.

Still... that close to all that gorgeous lingerie... and adding SHOES is just dirty pool!

Isn't it? Especially since the shoes in Elle were black and pink sling backs (black tooled leather layered over a pink upper) with a big pink bow on the side. SO cute.

See, but being close at all times means the possibility of being nearby for a sale. And sales=good, yes?

tell me about it. I just spent over $200 yesterday on stuff for work, even though it's nice classic stuff. I want fun fashionista stuff, yet can't afford it.

And I'm renaming H&M as Hooker & Manslut. at least the one on 57th.

(and if you're at the computer, IM me).

I'm not encouraging anything. I'm merely stating fact. If anything, I'm ennabling, but not encouraging, per se.

(besides, as she said herself, Kate doesn't need encouragement when it comes to shoes. She has shoe radar, shoe GPS, and shoe laser detection.)
