Because I am a ginormous nerd, I'm super duper excited about the absolutely fantastic new design for theBrooklyn Public Library's site. It's just grand. Easy to search, and just all shiny and fun. They have live homework help, maps, Brooklyn-related links. Check it out if you live in that borough! I haven't been to the Central Library in eons, but it's got a great collection.
I have a book to check out for a new sci fi book club I just joined. I miss reading sci-fi (after overdosing on it for a year or so, I haven't really read any in a while), so I figured I'd take a shot when I met up with some cool people who had said club at a party recently. The book is called The Stars my destination and it's by Alfred Bester. I have neither the money nor the room to buy a copy of this book, plus I love going to the library - I always feel like such a fugitive there. They have ALL of these books, and they let you TAKE THEM HOME WITH YOU. For free!! All you have to do is bring them back. It's grand. I think it'll catch on.
Must remember to send that donation to the fund drive the New York Public Library (seperate from the Brooklyn Public!) is having. If there's one thing I really believe in, it's libraries.
