My ipod is a prankster.

In an effort to make sure I was completely awake this morning, the universe decided to convince my ipod to play a little trick on me. It froze, and after FINALLY getting it to restart, I received this message:
"Plug into computer and restore through Itunes."
Now, this is the LAST thing that a person wants to see after finding out that hard drive recovery might cost her $500 or more. Especially after what's normally a 20 minute trip from Delancey Street took over an hour, because stupid track work demanded a trip to West 4th in order to get a Brooklyn bound train. I nearly started crying on the platform at Rockefeller Center. I only wish I was kidding. The last thing I needed was for another electronic to fail, and for my music to be really, really gone.
Thankfully, it just needed a ten-second plug in before all was well. Everything is there. Everything seems to be fine. Which is good.
On the bright side, I had an awesome time with
whtegrlwthehair last night. We had a lovely dinner at Lombardi's (and sangria), and she gave me a fantastic t-shirt that says, "Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner." After that, I met up with
squiddeh to give her a couple of books I got for her from work, and then we settled in for a crazy evening. Whenever I go to a show, it's rare that I like all three of the acts I'm seeing, but I thoroughly enjoyed Theo & the Skyscrapers (who were sort of a post-grunge Blondie) and the Wau Wau Sisters as much as I enjoyed Kiki and Herb. It was a crazy, crazy show. I got pretty tired of standing towards the end, but it was pretty cool to be in the front row. Good times. And during my detour home, I even ran into Maya! It was cool to catch up with her about things.
The new girl in our department (who I may refer to as New Orleans Girl for awhile, as that's where she hails from) decided that since she didn't know everyone well enough to buy us presents, she'd buy us breakfast instead. Oh, she's going to be popular around here, that's for sure.
Tonight I'll be hanging out with
alcestis and watching movies, tomorrow is cleaning, Saturday is movies and foodstuffs with
angelicillusion. And then, CHRISTMAS.
