Here are some news bites, in lieu of a lengthier entry:
*Today my coworker M is dressed exactly like Amanda from Ugly Betty. From hair to shoes. And she's totally pulling it off. It's awesome.
*Friday is the SuperCorp Holiday Jamboree. I'm super psyched.
teany is my date this year, and we will hopefully make her friends that will allow her a journalism job in New York. (In between the eating, drinking, dancing and karaoke, of course). With any luck, we'll be in a group that includes
redesigner,
missgyder, New Orleans Girl, Yankee Girl, and everyone's guests.
*I'm doing pretty well with my Christmas shopping, and with any luck I should have it all done in no time. Which is a relief. A big bunch of the cards I wanted to send out are out, too - comment here if you'd like one of your very own.
*Despite flipping out like a total dipstick last week about the staggering number of parties I've been invited to, actually attending many of said parties totally lifted my spirits last weekend. It'll be nice to not have a stressful holiday, but a good one, for a change.
*I forgot to mention it before now, but December 3rd was my 5th anniversary here at SuperCorp. The company gave me a plaque and a gift certificate for a gift site (I got a really pretty necklace), and I was pleased by that. I'm even more pleased about the fact that Boss T and Boss L are taking me out to lunch tomorrow. It should be fun.
*I just found out that Mika is going to be at Terminal 5 on February 2nd. Now, this is causing a bit of a dilemma for me, as I already am attending two other concerts in February (Magnetic Fields and St.Vincent) and feel like a third would be a bit much. New Orleans girl expressed a similar sentiment, but we've not decided anything yet.
* It amazes me how even a little bit of a break isn't enough. I was off all last week, and yet my body is still going, "Iz it can be vacation time now plz?" Your brain and body never really gets over the loss of a lengthy Christmas break. Trufax.
And finally, I'm sending out some get-well vibes to Alex Trebek, who is currently in the hospital "resting comfortably" after a minor heart attack. I had the pleasure of meeting him back when I was on the Teen Tournament (ten years ago. Good God.), and he was a lovely gent, and is the host of the best game show ever. Remember Alex - the question is: "What is a Speedy Recovery?"
