offbalanceI'm on day 2 of being home with some sort of evil stomach thing of I'm guessing Alien origin (certainly not swine). It started in spectacular fashion early Monday, when I awoke to find that our apartment had been placed on a turntable. j_bkl assured me that this was not the case, I went back to bed, curled into the fetal position, and did not emerge until after noon. After several ups and downs of temperature and feelings, I'm still dealing. I thought I'd be ok today, but I felt kind of raw when I woke up this morning, and then after the toast I ate felt like circular saw blades in my stomach, I decided the office could spare me another day. I'm not sure what the hell is up, but it's evil and I don't like it. *sigh* On the whole, food is entirely unappealing. And my body isn't exactly what you'd call pleased with whatever I've been attempting to pass off as nourisment.
I had some saltines, and my stomach is acting like I ate an entire order of nachos of questionable origin.
In my inability to do much except stare at the TV, I discovered that the Biography Channel was playing this 30th Anniversary of Star Trek special that I had missed during its original airing. I can't believe that something with so much potential could be so utterly, completely, and overwhelmingly dull. (But then again, I've seen Enterprise, so I shouldn't be too surprised.) Seeing the whole cast together was rad, but a special performance by Kenny G? They couldn't find anyone better? A 7-minute medly of songs that were neither used on the show nor directly related to it sung by some opera chick? Laaaaame. The only things worth watching were a skit by the cast of Frasier (minus Kelsey Grammar, oddly enough) and a speech by Ben Stiller, which was kind of funny. Otherwise? The entire thing left a sour taste in my mouth. Then again, that very well could have been my stomach.
