So, in a spectacular feat of klutziness, even for me, I seem to have sprained some muscles in my neck. I was walking to work in the pouring rain this morning, and as I stretched my leg across a small lake in my cute little rubber rain shoes, what I stepped on was just as slick and wet as black ice. Since Rockefeller Center is too good for standard-issue concrete, the kind that soaks up water instead of causing these large pools of treachery, I got to experience the summer version of their skating rink. And fell in spectacularly graceful fashion - one leg out in front the other tucked in front, arms out as I frantically tried to regain my balance. I went down, loaded down with my bags for today's CSA pickup, my gym crap and my usual totebag (containing my lunch and the copy of Anthony Bourdain's Medium Raw that I'm currently loving the hell out of). I felt the twinge of pain almost right away, and was grateful when a dude who looked a lot like Jerry Springer stopped and offered his help to get me back up. I was in pain for the rest of the day.

I did pick up a pack of those thermacare heat wraps specifically for the neck, which helped like crazy. Only problem was that everyone was walking up to me like I was wearing a whiplash collar. "Oh my Gooood!!! What haaaaappened??" So, I told the story about 10 times in the course of 3-4 hours. Blech. I was doubly annoyed, because no one has noticed my new glasses yet. No one. (Oh yeah. I got new glasses. As soon as I locate my camera, I will post pictures of them, but they are purple and awesome and I lurve them).

So yeah. Still in pain. Lugging the vegetables home was especially fun. And the worst part is that I think I aggravated an old injury in the fall, since it hurts in the same spot. Awwwesome. And I was so proud of myself for having plans to hit the gym tomorrow and everything. *sigh* So much for that.

So, safe to say, I'm sick of this rain, and happy as hell to be off on Friday. And a real off day, not a sit at home and wait for handymen to show up day off, too. I am excited about my plans, which involve pancakes, a museum, a botanic garden, and a brewery. A nice balance of high and low culture.
