you might just make it after all.
Oct. 29th, 2002 10:24 amSo, here I am, temping away in Children's Editorial at the venerable publishing firm of HC.
My boss seems distressed that I'm not simply a clone of her current vacationing assistant, and that she actually has to explain things to me. They're having a departmental meeting right now, which gives me a few minutes to continue beating my head against the network wall to allow me to do the few bits of *actual* work she's asked me to do. She keeps throwing me at another woman, who's just been promoted, to basically show me how to do that which is required of me. This other woman, though very nice, I know is also very busy and seems annoyed that I've been thrust at her. (and rightfully so! she's been nothing but supremely helpful, but she has her own things to do, and can't be responsible for me. I probably should have started Friday so they could have set me up properly, but yay bureaucracy.)
At least I'm actually on a computer today. Yesterday I read Atlas Shrugged, stared at the wall, reorganized a bookshelf and did a few errands that any well-trained llama could have accomplished.
and here I am again. Must work on telepathy skills to please boss. *grunt* I'm already invisible, for the most part.
But, I will still be talking to HR about a few openings I heard about in publicity/marketing. AND I got the health insurance I was hoping for, so that's one last thing off my mind.
anyway, I'd better stop goofing off now.
