[livejournal.com profile] antheia was joking about Rob Zombie being festive this morning, but in truth, I haven't really been able to listen to too much christmas music either. Case in point - this morning's selection for subway travel was R.E.M.'s masterpiece Automatic for the People. I forgot how absolutely beautiful this album is - "Try not to Breathe" still gets me, so does "Drive," "Sweetness Follows," and even "Everybody Hurts," despite the fact that it got horrendously overplayed. Listening to "Nightswimming" and "Find the River" as the train sped over the Manhattan Bridge this morning almost brought tears to my eyes.
It's any number of things, really, how grey it is outside, or the time of year; spin the bloody wheel, really.

It's not that I'm depressed. My world isn't a dark room. It's more like I'm melancholic, with overtones of extensive self-examination and self-reflection. End of year, etc. Hmm...this is just the weather for it, I suppose. (and it's supposed to be 60 degrees today! the fuck?)

Hopefully, today at work will be fairly quiet, and I'll have time to write a nice long diaryland about things lately. (oh, and [livejournal.com profile] quasisonic, yours was really sweet. Have you shown it to Suzy?)

*BOUNCE*
Laura's on her way home, I just spoke to her! Once we've been reunited, look out New York! mwhahahaha!!!

aaaand my order from the HC warehouse came today, so I now have a copy of Neverwhere of my very own. *hugs book* I also got a copy of American Gods as well, so that should prove to be some fun reading. Gaiman almost always = time well spent. (oh, and Catherine, your stuff is here too, I don't know if you got my email.)

My christmas wrapping is done. I just wasn't able to do any Christmas cards this year. *hangs head* I hope no one hates me for it! Although, I'm contemplating doing e-cards instead.

yeah. have to spend the afternoon attached to the copier of doom *shakes fist at permissions department*. I swear, I think they think I'm their personal bitch sometimes. Every other damn day there's another email request for ANOTHER agreement they can't find. Why they can't walk their ass up here is beyond me. >_<

That's the glamourous world of publishing, kids.

and here are a few jokes... )

It's primal scream time.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I am so ready for time off. So so so ready. I can't wait until next year - I wanna save some days up and take the whole week off at Christmastime - since we get the 25th & 26th off already.

And I'm not going to go into detail about how SOME PEOPLE in my company are bigger pains in the ass over others. Oh no. I'm not.
