offbalance: (my gift is my song)
First and foremost, I want to wish a giant, happy, sparkly birthday to [livejournal.com profile] dolores!!!! Hope it's fabulous!!

Well, I've made a decision. When it comes down to a choice between losing my mind from being trapped inside for days and days on end due to the weather or piling on the layers and venturing out of doors, I choose to spit in weather's eye and go out and have fun! Which I am glad I did last night - [livejournal.com profile] neoguardian came down from Ossning and had a nice dinner at Da Rosina (more on that in a second) and lots of great conversation. Good times.

mini-review for the restaurant-conscious )

It didn't take too long for me to get home last night, which was a relief. The train was acting a bit weird, but I caught an express, so that killed any annoyances. I had been in the house for 10 minutes, watching CSI when my phone rang. Something told me it was Jeff, as he usually calls me at that time of night on Thursdays. He apologized for not calling last weekend - his grandmother died! :( So, we talked about that and the usual round of everything/nothing that we chat about, and wound up making plans for tonight to see Big Fish, provided he doesn't have to work late/can get out at a decent hour. We're supposed to talk sometime this afternoon to see how things are progressing. If he has to work, I'll probably just go home and curl up with either last night's CSI and Without a Trace on tape or Donnie Darko on dvd. Last night [livejournal.com profile] neoguardian made a reference to it (saying that in weather like this, the words 'subway entrance' replace 'cellar door' as the most beautiful word in the English language) and I realized I haven't watched it in ages.

Tomorrow I'm probably doing chore-ish things during the day (taking down the tree, perhaps?) and seeing [livejournal.com profile] angelicillusion in the evening. Sunday is a Writing Group Potluck. Monday my dad and I have plans to do some financial type stuff. It will also most likely be SHARON MUST DO LAUNDRY DAY, as the situation is getting pretty dire in my closet (which I should work on reorganizing if I have time).

1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?
offbalance.livejournal.com: "The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what you share with someone when you're uncool." - Almost Famous

2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven't graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be?
We didn't have room for senior quotes (the graduating class was 780!). However, we all scribbled quotes on each other's notebooks in my circle of friends and my most frequent quote was:
"Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief - all kill their inspiration, and sing about their grief." - U2, "The Fly"

3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?
Not sure. Maybe Vmpr Slyr or DIVA or something. Something to match the lameness of the vanity plate.

4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say?
The only things I've had engraved have had either my name or my initials on them.

5. What would you like your epitaph to be?
I'm not sure. I'm pretty fond of a few lines from Matthew Arnold's "Requiscat," but they're entirely too tragic for me.
Something clever - more along the lines of the W.C. Fields's epitaph, which was : "On the whole, I'd rather be in Philadelphia." (which maybe 3 people who read this will appreciate, and more's the pity. That guy was FUNNY.)
