...and they called it puppy love
Nov. 17th, 2004 10:10 amIn all of the high-school related weirdness I encountered yesterday I forgot to mention another meeting I had earlier in my trip home.
I was about to get on the train at 7th Avenue, when I noticed a little bouncing ball of fur run out from behind a woman on a cell phone. He was on a leash, but trying to get the attention of passers-by, for no reason at all. It was a tiny tiny yellow labrador puppy, and the most absolutely cute thing I have seen in possibly my natural life. I was powerless to resist his charms.
I knelt down to pat his little head a bit (so soft!!) and he all but leapt into my arms, licking my face and wagging his tail furiously. His owner even seemed surprised, exclaiming, "Wow, he really likes you!!" before she had to get going. And it's a good thing she got going, too, otherwise I would have tucked that adorable little puppy into my coat and brought him home with me. I'm not usually a dog person, but that dog would have owned my soul. I would have been one of Those People who carry the puppy around in my purse, talk to it in a high-pitched voice, buy us matching outfits and referred to themselves as 'Mommy.' Thankfully, I have people in my life who would stagea bitch-slapping jamboree an appropriate intervention were that to happen. If they, too, were not sucked in by the incredible cuteness power of The Puppy.
I also might have named him Twinkie. Because he was the same color as the snack cake (and at his current size, not too much bigger than one). This isn't the right time in my life for that kind of relationship, but maybe someday I'll have something like that. I didn't think I could fall so hard for a dog (despite my massive allergies, I tend to favor cats), but that little furball proved me wrong.

Today is lunch with
mcgorkelsohnns to celebrate his admission to New School's grad program, dinner with
quasisonic & Amy, and then possibly
movieoke. It had been mentioned, and just as I was ready to give up on it entirely, someone has stated that it's supposedly 'back on.' Can anyone confirm this?
