offbalance: (Bjork by this is yesterday)
Still home. Still sick. Trying to convince my body that gatorade and saltines are, indeed, our friends. Blech.

I have to remember that the worst thing for me to do while sick is watch House. During yesterday's episode I began to contemplate all sorts of bizarre illnesses that I could actually have, instead of the more mundane flu that I probably actually have. I'm all sorts of out of it, so that's probably why. Ugh.

Trying to decide if I want to watch several episodes of Dexter, the Winona Ryder Little Women, or something else. Maybe all of the above. I have an odd desire to watch an old U2 video I have ([livejournal.com profile] pizanite may be the only one familiar with The Unforgettable Fire Collection), and other odd impulses that vary from moment to moment. The last time my brain was in this fun place I had a dream involving the Wizard of Oz that was sooo beyond bizarre.

Maybe some tea would be good. Earl grey, hot.

My mom had a theory on the phone just now that whatever was chasing me last week finally caught me, but had a few days to mutate first. Grand. I think (hope) I'll be work-ready tomorrow, but we'll see.

Did I mention that my new bedding is up there with my new phone and new ipod as one of the very best things I bought this year? It's like sleeping on a cloud. A CLOUD, I tell you.

Right then. Tea. Soup. Then some form of televised entertainment.

As previously reported, my computer went kerfluey earlier this afternoon. I called Puck in a panic, and he graciously agreed to look at it when he got home.

I am absolutely flabbergasted to report that once again, I have caused the death of a motherboard. Seriously, I should look into getting a job testing these things. This is the third motherboard I've killed in two machines. TWO! I don't treat my computers any differently from anyone else I know. Why the blo

Puck has managed to rig me up a frankenputer in the meantime, so I can have some access to stuff during this pain-in-the-ass time. He assures me that he'll find a way, some way, to get me up and running again, but in the meantime, I have no itunes, no bitcomet, I have to use Word instead of Wordperfect (ick), and did I mention no itunes? ::sigh:: Still, I am extremely grateful that I have anything at this point. No internet makes Sharon a VERY cranky girl.

Still, as usual, I don't like it when this shit happens. I like my computer to just work and shut up about it. I treat it well. I keep my antivirus up to date, I invested in a good solid surge protector, keep it dust free, and all of that good stuff. This. should not. HAPPEN. I know it's 3 years old, but you don't expect a motherboard to blow after 3 years. Grrr. Stupid piece of...the temptation to go out and get a shiny new laptop is STRONG. I'm held back by a stunning lack of fundage, though. And the hope that Puck can pull a rabbit out of his computing hat and get me the part I need.
