Yesterday was Xanadu, better known as 10 pounds of fun in a 5 pound bag. I wasn't really a fan of the movie, but I felt (and hoped) that my all-encompassing (and completely non-ironic) love of the music from said movie would trump that fact, in addition to the supposedly hilarious new book created by Douglas Carter Beane (who also wrote The Little Dog Laughed, which was supposed to be hilarious).

I'm happy to say that the show was everything the movie was not. It was clever, self-aware, hilarious, and camp as Christmas at Elton John's house. Making it even more fun was the fact that the group I went with (which included [livejournal.com profile] laughingirl and 13 others) sat on stage. The on-stage tickets are cheaper, and they're a lot more fun. The cast members interact with you, sit with you, and you get a glow stick to dance with during the last number. I would say that dancing on a broadway stage was the highlight of the evening, except for the fact that one of the cast members used me for a prop in one of the songs. She needed something to hide behind, and I was elected due to what seat I was in. I jumped a mile when she grabbed my shoulders, and smiled while EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE 600-SEAT THEATER LOOKED RIGHT AT ME. (Okay, so maybe it was more like mugging to the crowd, but I didn't do it that much. I hope). I had a blast, and I might even go back again, to sit on the stage. People from the audience were coming up to us after the show to talk to us about being on stage, and insisting that they wanted to come back just to do that. Hee!

Today I was at the beach. I read the Dresden Files. It was hot. Nothing exciting happened.

And now there's thunder, so I have to get off the computer. Figures, the internet at my parents house JUST started working. Argh.
