[personal profile] offbalance
Look's like Mikey has gotten into it again, and this time with Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings (is he still in office?!).

To their exchange I can only say: ha haahahahahahaaha!!!

January 22, 2004 -- MAYOR Bloomberg, who has enough trouble with the state Legislature, may have inadvertently started a feud with the whole city of Albany. Hizzoner is heading north Monday to respond to Gov. Pataki's State of the State speech. Bloomberg told City Hall reporters: "I am sure that all of you will join me in Albany, where the skies will be clear, and it will be a little chillier, and you'll realize just what a wonderful city you live in." The diss didn't sit well with Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings, who said, "I'd like to take him to a fine restaurant and spend some time here, where it's a little quieter and a little nicer than what he may be used to." Oh, really? Albany DA Paul Clyne recently told Post State Editor Fredric U. Dicker that Albany County has a higher per capita crime rate than New York City. Recently several reporters, including two from the New York Times, have been mugged in the state capital.

Two points:
1. Cuisine-wise, you could do a LOT worse than Albany. There were some real bright spots up there, namely Peaches Cafe (which I still miss) , Bombers' Burritos (ditto), Peking (great Asian Fusion), Uncommon Grounds (their bagel sandwiches and tea!!) and Ichiban (nice Japanese/Chinese place). There were also several good mexican, caribbean, vegetarian, steakhouse, and Greek restaurants around there as well. There was even a place or two with half-decent pizza. There was a lot to rag on in Albany, but I never felt food was one of those things. It may not be as fancy as some places in NYC, but that's a good and a bad thing.

2. Albany was a lot more run-down, sketchy and segregated than NYC is. Way to brag about that, Mayor JJ. Honestly. How is that nicer?
