Happy St. Patrick's Day, all!! This is all the green I have to wear. I might have put on some appropriately-colored Mardi Gras Beads, but I forgot. *sigh* Oh well. I have a yellow sweater on, which is close enough. My very Irish friend Mary from JHS told me once that wearing green on St. Patrick's Day didn't matter so much as not wearing orange did. So I always heeded that (not that I own lots of orange, but you get the idea).
For futher St.Patrick's-themed postage, check out my Irish friend
dazz's post about the holiday. I haven't laughed that hard at my desk since the Lord of the Rings: The Musical incident in
ladymoonray's journal.
Okay, enough of that. I've been listening to the pipes and drums and bands all day long, since my office is right next to 5th avenue. It would be 3x as cool if I could actually look out my window to see revelers and marchers, but such is life.
It's been VERY quiet today. I guess my little bit of industriousness yesterday really cleared everything out, minus some backed up things that I'll start looking into tomorrow. Boss L said I could start working on some amendments, but I honestly haven't done any since I started here, and that was during one session in which she showed me how to do ALL kinds of contracts, so I feel like I'd be more confident if she worked with me more before I put those together.
I *did* have an appointment with an excellent new dentist this afternoon. She's a lovely, upbeat person, and everything you could want in a dentist (slow, patient, gentle, thorough). So I now have a dentist. Huzzah. My mouth is also currently going "WTF?!" at all that it was made to do this afternoon, but it'll get over that soon enough.
And I'm going out with my girlies tonight (wooo!) to do a wee bit of drinking - Guiness, Harp, and other Irish flavors. I hope no one tries to talk me into whiskey shots. After Gyda's birthday, I swore never again. Hopefully where we're going is enough off of the beaten path so it won't be as horridly crowded as those ON the beaten path. So yeah. I also brought my camera, so there will hopefully be some pictures of the festivities. :)
It's been 3 days and I can't stop thinking about a damn bagel. I ought to just get one already, but I want a GOOD bagel. With nice, thick cream cheese. Mmmmbagel.
I think I'm going to wrap this up, take care of the last thing I have left to do, and then make sure I'm all ready to head upstairs and out for the evening.
Reminder: do not feel bad if organization on your part leads you to finish all your work properly the first time through, and has left you with free time. Stop it. I mean it! (and I saw Boss T reading Publisher's Weekly at his desk today. So nyah.)

Date: 2004-03-17 08:36 pm (UTC)Sorry I missed meeting up with you for a drink or two. Perhaps another time. As it turns out, I've been back upstate for about 4 hours now as my friends neglected to tell me that they were planning on leaving early so someone could go see Puddle of Mudd. I'd have called you, but I found that the battery in my cell phone had died sometime between when I spoke with you earlier in the afternoon and when I tried to call at 5:30.
Anyway, hope you had a great day and an even better evening out with your friends.

whiskey shots
Speaking from experience, doing shots of most whiskey is generally a bad idea. Admittedly, there are some exceptions, but in general, it should be avoided.
Whiskey, in my opinion, should be sipped, and if you've a taste for it, savored. But again, that's just my opinion. YMMV.

Date: 2004-03-18 06:07 am (UTC)Yeah, well after you've been drinking mightily for a couple of hours, and a friend says, "HEY! LET'S DO A SHOT!", sometimes your judgement isn't what it should be. So there we were, doing shots of (I believe) Jack. Ow.
Bagel? I read that and thought you were talking about my dog!!!
Date: 2004-03-19 02:54 pm (UTC)I've heard before that a craving will pass after 20 min. or so. So you should wait 20 min. to see if you REALLY want it. But this bagel craving of 3 days? Um, I think that's one craving you gotta give into.
And I hope you did.

Date: 2004-03-21 06:37 pm (UTC)I am in desperate need of a dentist. I'm also a pain wuss and a scaredy-cat when it comes to dentists. So if this woman's good... well, spill her name! In email, if you'd prefer - meg @ librarychick . com
My teeth thank you. :)
