Today I have:
Cleaned the bathroom
Put away my summer shirts in favor of more seasonally appropriate clothing
caught up on Dexter (which, incidentally, if you're not watching, you really should)
Finished Francine Prose's Reading Like a Writer (which I reccommend to all and sundry as one of the best writing books I've ever read - it may even top Steven King's On Writing for me.)
Library
Grocery Shopping

This weekend I decided to take it as easy as possible, and I don't regret it at all. I needed a little time to unplug, and take it easy, and I feel much better for having done so. Even more ready to conquer what will be a really, really busy couple of weeks coming up. I figured out that after this weekend, the next opportunity for a "quiet" weekend that I have is Thanksgiving. I needed a break. And I had one, and it's great. I feel recharged.

I'm also in LOVE with this song - I can't stop listening to it. It was played over the credits for the updated version of Much Ado About Nothing (my favorite Shakespeare play) starring the perennially yummy Damian Lewis. [livejournal.com profile] alcestis has mentioned in the past her love of "It's Not Unusual," but I think this one could give that one a run for its money. It's got everything a good mid-to-late 1960s pop song should have - rich vocal, punchy horns, swirling strings and a swinging bossa nova beat backing the whole thing up. It's fabulous.

I've been watching Dexter also, though I haven't seen last night's episode yet (taped). Definitley the most original premise I've seen in some time.
