What a roller coaster today has been. In a few minutes I'm leaving to meet up with

whtegrlwthehair to see Kiki & Herb at the Bowery Ballroom (with dinner at Lombardi's first, yaye!) But my last 24 hours have had more ups and downs than I'm used to.

I headed out to the ancestral home for my dad's birthday (Latkes for dinner! Aw yeah!), and hit massive delays going because of a jumper at West 4th. Eek. The rest of the night was similar in its juxapositions.

Up: Thalia, my new laptop, is absolutely lovely. She's marvelous about finding out where the wireless lives.
Down: I don't seem to have the right password for my apartment's wireless network. So a long call to Time Warner is in my future.

Up: My new hard drive is huge!
Down: The backups that I thought I had? Not so much. They didn't get loaded on the thumb drive just right, and my files are not so much there. I ran to my roommates for help amidst a near-breakdown last night and Puck took a look at things. He's optimistic, so I am optimistic, and now the drive is off to data recovery. Hopefully between my old backups, some stuff I had in gmail (like my ENTIRE NOVEL), and a little bit o'bloomin' luck, things will work out. It may take awhile, though. *sigh*

Up: As of this morning, I am officially 15 pounds lighter. Aw yeah.
Down: Between the bag of cookies from a coworker, a bag of cookies from ANOTHER coworker, the box of Godiva from my boss and other festivities, let's see how that is in a week or so.

And on and on and on. *sigh* I'm majorly sugar crashing and need to get my act together before I head out, but I also wanted to mention that today, while investigating all of the lovely things I can't afford at Barney's, I saw Bruce Springsteen and his wife shopping there. How cool is that?
