drunk post!!!

Okjay so I went out with what's left of the sci-fi bookclub tonight and what a time was had! We went to Tortilla Flats, which is awesome except for the douchebag quotient - more ironed hair and striped shirts than you'll see anywhere ever. And I had 3 margaritas and Trina said that I should have her tequila shot so I did (so that was 2 for me). then we went to this awesome bar called brass monlkey (that funkey monkey), and TIME OUT NEW YORK was there, and they got a quote from me! And this is after the margaritas and the shots and they got a quote from me, and gave me a free beer for my trouble. Which ruled. So now I'm home and on my laptop in bed and hammered and all kinds of awesome and stuff. So yah. Good to see Maya and Luise and Michaela and Allan and Trina.

happy birthday if you have a birthday. I'm turning 27 in 10 days, Jesus Christ.

A, my dear Shaz, the douchebag quotient is pretty much guaranteed at a place like Tortilla Flats! I've heard it suggested for bachelorette parties, for christssake.

Btw, I wonder where I'd fall on your "true New Yorker" scale, since I am a suburban transplant, afterall. ;)

You are the exception that proves my rule. The kind of people I have a problem with are the ones that were filling Tortilla Flats last night, which is something you well know. Also, may I point out that you, like many other suburban transplants I've befriended, have moved here to make a life for yourself - not to play for a few years before they can switch over from Sex & the City to The Stepford Wives.

(that said, TF was really great food, drink and service-wise. I was honestly expecting something more upscale, given what I'd heard about the place, and not something so kitschy and fun).
