I'm such a silly rabbit sometimes, truly. I think that just because I'm off I'm going to busy myself with silly matters like livejournal. Ha!

Anyway, thanks to work being a big pair of plaid crazypants, I've been neglecting my poor little journal lately. That, and due to me being so popular on Facebook Scrabulous. (I'm playing ELEVEN GAMES, people. Eleven!!)

Anyway, I had a marvelous birthday in celebrations and amusements. The Dram Shop was definitely the right choice for a fiesta, despite it getting crowded between the hours of 10pm and midnight. Which should be expected. You're in a bar. It's a Saturday. It's going to be crowded during prime bar time. Still, everyone seemed to really enjoy the place, and I've been itching to go back again with fewer than 30 of my nearest and dearest. (Seriously, I blush at all the love). My folks treated me to a Chinese feast and then on Monday my mom and I saw Miss Pettigrew Lives for the Day , which was absolutely adorable. She seemed quite taken with the Cobble Hill theater and even more taken with Sweet Melissa across the street. I know there's one in the slope now, but the Court Street one is still better for some reason. I don't know why.

Tuesday was my actual birthday, and I did something I've been dying to do for ages. I found out that Gotham Bar & Grill (which I'd been dying to try but had never been to) had a year-round lunch price fix. So I went and had it, along with a glass of wine. And I went by myself. I was meeting friends later for karaoke madness, but I decided to take myself out for a fancy lunch, and it turned out to be one of my better ideas, truly. The food was incredible, the room beautiful, and the staff was very attentive. I fully plan to go back, and recommend the hell out of it. (and I should have written down the name of the Sancerre I had, it was lovely. But then again, I really do love Sancerre). Otherwise, I just had three awesome days of kicking around with only very vague plans of things to do. I love that. But as always, there's too much to do and not enough time to do it in. Mostly, though, I have to say that on all fronts, it was possibly the best birthday I've ever had. Ever. I plan to take vacation days around my birthday from now on, too.

My time off gallavanting did get me thinking - I live in this awesome city. I clearly have many, many awesome friends who are People Who Like To Do Things. As we're starting to move to better weather, I think I'm going to try and get out and Do Things more. Things of the Gallery/Museum/Lectures/Music vein. I was sad that I didn't find out that Tim Gunn was going to be at the 92nd Street Y ON MY BIRTHDAY until it was too late. Especially since I had other plans, which were amazing and awesome. ([livejournal.com profile] nemesisbecoming and [livejournal.com profile] redesigner's duet of the R&B Classic "On My Own" may be the highlight of my life, followed closely or tied with [livejournal.com profile] airspaniel's high-kicking rendition of "Mein Herr" from Cabaret. But who can choose, really?) Besides, the organizers could have easily held it on the 10th or the 12th. Really. I may even write an angry letter.

Thankfully, though, it's Friday. I've been at work for TWO DAYS and it feels like it should have been much, much longer. Thankfully I have pizza with friends to look forward to later, as well as all sorts of crazy fun in store for tomorrow. (And I'm seeing The Mountain Goats next week!!!) For now, I'm back on the chain gang. *sigh*

Ooooh, that sounds wonderful! And it reminds me that I totally forgot to send you your birthday present. Bad monkey!

hanks to work being a big pair of plaid crazypants,

I am now adopting that turn of phrase, because it rocks.

So Miss Pettigrew was good? I just saw a preview for it and decided I simply must go see it! I might make a date night with myself this weekend. :-D

No worries! Remember - Birthday presents are accepted 365 days a year (and 366 days this year!) ;)

Glad you like the phrase. It's apt, isn't it?

Miss Pettigrew was good. If you do see it, post so we can talk about it. I'm too afraid I'll give anything away, but it was so much fun.

Eeeeexcellent. Keep an eye on your mail, and for a movie post. I haven't taken myself to a movie in ages, and after the plaid crazypants week I've had here, well...!

I'm crap at wishing people Happy Birthday and just assumed I'd leave an LJ comment and then you seemed to have dropped off the face of LJ. Yay for vacation :) I'm glad you had such a wonderful birthday.
