- Back at Work. :P

+ Work seems okay. ::looks around cautiously::

+/- I am in need of an optician. Where do YOU get your glasses? I'm currently contemplating Grand Central Optical and some others in Midtown.

+ Caught up on pretty much the entire DVR over the weekend! All that remains (aside from what we're saving) is a single episode of Hung, and the premiere episode of The Pillars of the Earth (and whatever was on last night). We finished Treme, which I think is one of the very best things I’ve watched on HBO, possibly ever. It was moving, hilarious, heartbreaking, and hopeful. And the music is phenomenal. If this doesn’t walk away with a shopping cart full of Emmys and Golden Globes, there is something very wrong.

+ I have to watch last night’s episode, but True Blood is on some wonderful crack this season. BUT! They finally got Sookie right. FINALLY.

+ Watched the season premiere of Mad Men at Casa Teanytoken. I’m really loving this tradition of ours for getting together for the premiere! Also, this season got off to a strong and rollicking start. Can’t wait to see where this is going!

- Usually I’m pretty dubious about the whole “trigger” business. I feel like the term is totally and completely overused, and is at risk for losing its meaning due to this abuse. HOWEVER. I was definitely triggered when I attempted to watch District 9 over the weekend. Apparently, forced medical testing/scientific experimentation on an unwilling victim? Apparently this is a major trigger for me. I got so upset (palpitations, nausea, etc.) we had to turn it off. It seemed like a really interesting way to tell an old story, so I was bummed, but I can’t handle that movie.

+/- We got IE 8 at work. It does not want me to look at pictures in either gmail or google reader. This annoys me, but tech support is working on it. *sigh*

I order my glasses online from ZenniOptical.com. You can't beat $8--and that includes the lenses. It's cheap enough that if I lose a pair, it doesn't matter, because I have three or four backups.

I will definitely look into them - that seems optimal!

UH HUH.

But when it's appropriate... it's appropriate.

It really is. I was ready to call BS on the whole thing until it happened to me.

(But it is really overused. A lot.)

Generally, my rule is: warn about anything that you'd warn for in fic. Rape, [character] death, NC17, non-con, whatever. But when it gets to the point of "cut for talk of kittens; may be triggery for persons with history of traumatic experiences with kittens," then you know we're going overboard.

Precisely. (although I never got how non-con and rape were different from each other. Aren't they really the same thing?)

Heh, good point. I always got the sense that non-con referred to characters who knew each other or were in a relationship, even, but that particular sex was non-con. So, a more specific subcategory of rape, then.

Don't know what the experience is like when you already know/have your prescription, but Park Slope Eye did my glasses for me and they were amazing. Since I love the frames I have, I didn't avail myself of the opportunity, but apparently they're really good at picking out the right frames for your face shape. I'll probably keep having them do my glasses even after moving on up.

I will definitely check them out! Thanks!

I go to an ophthalmologist for exams, and buy my glasses from www.zennioptical.com after trying pairs on and finding out what looks good on me.
