For the record

So, lj, in its infinite "wisdom" has decided to make it easier to connect your LJ with facebook. Meaning, that you can link comments - ANYONE'S comments - to facebook.
Apparently, no one took 5 seconds to suss out why this might be a terrible idea.
So, let me state for the record that if I catch anyone around here reposting anything of mine on facebook? Furious will not even begin to cover it. And you will find yourself banned. Perhaps permanently, depending on a few factors. I don't care how amazing, or clever, or funny or whatever it is. You can repost it without directly linking back to my LJ, or using my LJ name. Okay? Also nice? ASKING PERMISSION.
I work really hard to keep LJ and Facebook separate. REALLY. FUCKING. HARD. Some of you may have even noticed how tweaked I get if someone who knows my real last name uses it in any LJ context. There are reasons. Good reasons. I know the whole concept of "privacy" on the internet is stupid at best, but I try not to be too obvious about some things.
So, in short, if you want to stay friends? Keep my LJ out of your facebook or twitter or whathaveyou.
(starting to wonder about that dreamwidth migration about now...)

Minimize your exposure there as much as you can.
Here is the stoopid idea in all its glory. Make your displeasure known!! http://news.livejournal.com/129190.html

Date: 2010-09-01 02:52 am (UTC)Mostly I don't care about all that LJ drama. But I'm seriously annoyed right now. Especially with the idea that people could potentially post comments from my locked posts to their fb/twitter.

Date: 2010-09-01 02:58 am (UTC)But you're right. Everything I love about LJ is here. The communities, the people, the layouts...but this new dog won't hunt. So hopefully we'll get a mea culpa in a few days.

Date: 2010-09-01 03:33 am (UTC)OK--so even if that is the case--LJ isn't reposting the text of your entry on my Facebook wall, just the crap that I typed. And even if there is a link to the actual entry, only people with permission to see it will be able to.
Am I missing something? It seems ultra-extraneous to me but not necessarily a security or privacy flaw.
